I’ll admit it, I was drawn in by the gold.
When I first saw Rollney’s World Cup Gold Edition Kurtos making its rounds online, I thought it would be another dessert that’s made for photos more than flavour. A cone sprayed with 24K gold sounds like something you’d order once just to say you did. But curiosity got the better of me, so I headed to Rollney at VivoCity to see if there was more to it than just the shiny finish.
The outlet is located at 1 HarbourFront Walk, #02-133 VivoCity, right next to Putien and opposite LiHO, so it’s easy to spot while walking around the mall. Even on a weekday, there was a steady queue of people, many of them holding the café’s signature chimney cakes while others were eyeing the limited-edition World Cup creation.
The first thing that stands out is definitely the presentation. The dessert looks like a trophy in ice cream form. The golden finish catches the light immediately, and I can already imagine why it’s filling up Instagram and TikTok feeds. Thankfully, it isn’t all about appearances.
The base starts with Rollney’s signature freshly baked Kürtőskalács, also known as a chimney cake. It’s warm on the outside with a light crisp coating, while the inside stays soft and slightly chewy. That contrast with the cold Royal Chocolate Ice Cream is probably my favourite part of the dessert.

Then come the toppings. There’s Kinder sauce, crushed dark chocolate cookies, and generous pieces of Kinder Kunafa, which add a nice crunch without making every bite overwhelmingly sweet. The 24K gold spray doesn’t really contribute to the flavour, but that’s expected. It’s there to complete the World Cup trophy concept, and honestly, it works.
This is definitely a dessert for chocolate lovers. Everything leans rich, but the crunchy textures keep it from becoming too one-dimensional. I found myself slowing down halfway through because it’s quite filling, especially if you’re eating it alone.
If you’re planning to pair it with a drink, Rollney also serves coffees, iced chocolate, matcha, and fruit-based beverages. Most drinks fall between $5 and $8, depending on your choice. I ordered an iced latte, which helped balance the sweetness of the dessert without overpowering it.
One thing I appreciate about Rollney is that they haven’t abandoned what made them popular in the first place. The chimney cake still feels like the hero, even with all the premium toppings layered on top. The limited-edition concept simply gives regular customers another reason to come back.
Is it worth trying? I think so, especially if you’re already planning a trip to VivoCity or you’re someone who enjoys limited-time desserts. It’s fun, playful, and feels like the kind of treat you share with friends after shopping. Just don’t expect the gold itself to change the taste. The real stars are still the warm chimney cake, creamy chocolate ice cream, and all the crunchy toppings packed into every bite.
Sometimes a dessert doesn’t need to reinvent flavours. It just needs to make you smile before you even take the first bite.
